Hi everyone! My name is Scarlet Ibis James, and I’m a Black woman writer based in NYC. My roots are Trinbagonian, and they play a significant role in shaping my stories. I love diving into that rich cultural background and using it to explore the messy, beautiful dance between love and self-discovery. My stories are all about those twists and turns in life we can all relate to.

I like to keep things real in my writing—my characters are far from perfect, and they’re definitely unapologetic. I think there's real beauty in that complexity. And even though I'm a romantic at heart, I like to keep readers guessing. You might find some unexpected humor or a touch of whimsy that turns everyday moments into something magical.
