Steve Jobs (2015)
PC Masterace
Fassbender, Daniels, Rogan, and Winslet had elite performances. I really enjoyed the music/sound effects and dramatic pacing...in a similar way to The Social Network. Watched during the Great Quarantine of 2020.
Apocalypse Now (1979)
Vietnam on Acid
I felt like I was lost at a dark music festival on psychedelics and at the same time i was also lost in the jungle of the vietnam war while watching this movie. Great acting and story progression-sometimes old movie bother me...this one did not- it holds up very well and the music/sound effects get my highest rating. Watched for the first time during the Great Quarantine of 2020.
The Shining (1980)
Terrifying and Stylish
Watching this during the quarantine of 2020 was interesting...highly recommend under the circumstances if you are locked in. I normally find it difficult to watch old movies due to the acting/effects/editing but i gotta say that all of those things were were on par or even better than many movies today (2020). Can't get over the style and the colors of the movie...that sounds dumb but you will understand after watching.
Joker (2019)
Oh Look Another Overrated Batman Movie
Different from the others, but still relies on the comic franchise to prop it up and make it meaningful. Without the joker context, it really seems more like a documentary on severe mental health disorder. I also felt that it kind of copied a lot of aspects of fight club.
1917 (2019)
So Intense
I was subconsciously holding my breathe almost the entire movie. Crazy how a movie can be shot in such a way that it has an extreme impact physically on the viewers body. Go see this in a theater if possible and sit fairly close to the screen for best effect.
The Hateful Eight (2015)
All American Masterpiece
Best dialogue ever. This movie made me proud to be an American. Shows how bad ass our ancestors were. I hope the wild west was actually like this. My biggest movie theater regret is not seeing this in 70mm IMAX.
The Fruit Hunters (2012)
Changed My Life
This documentary made me a better person. Thankful that I stumbled across it. Would recommend to anyone interested in being alive. A great introduction to the world of fruit, gardening, phytonutrients, and body maintenance/optimization.
Bonus: the camera work is stunning.
