On behalf of the University, I’m proud to present this cutting edge course from the first UK institution to offer an online degree in quantum technologies. With an innovative curriculum designed to help you succeed in your quantum career, you’ll dive deeper into the theory that underpins quantum sciences.
As you explore exciting topic areas including nanotechnologies, sensing and imaging, atom light interactions and photonics, you will develop the knowledge you need to speak the language of quantum whatever your career path may be.
The course also includes a business focused element, so you learn how to harness the commercial power of quantum technologies to influence strategy and drive innovation.
You’ll explore current developments in the quantum technology market, study the interplay of market pull and technology push across various sectors, and learn how to ensure your innovations are both commercially successful and socially responsible.

Each module for this course lasts seven weeks and is delivered via Canvas, a state-of-the-art online learning platform which can be accessed by a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The modules are designed to develop your theoretical understanding of quantum physics and illustrate the commercial opportunities presented by new quantum technologies. You’ll cover a range of exciting topics, such as sensing and imaging, applications of quantum technology, photonics, nanotechnologies, secure communications and more.
Our MSc’s modules are grouped into ‘carousels’, so you’ll study the first carousel before moving on to the next one. If you choose to study an alternative qualification (PG Certificate or PG Diploma), you won’t study all three carousels, only the ones required for the specific qualification. Please see the ‘Pathways’ tab for further information.
The course uses multiple assessment methods to assess students’ knowledge, competence development and engagement through individual and groupwork exercises, such as written reports, simulations, essays, project reports, MCQs, and portfolios. An indication for the likely assessment methods of each module is given, though this may be subject to change.

The qualification you’ll receive upon completion of our Master of quantum technology course will depend on which modules you study from the three carousels. Below we’ve outlined the requirements for each qualification.

Masters course fee: £12,660
Cost per module: £1,055*
Flexibility is at the heart of our online quantum technology courses; fees can be paid on a module-by-module basis, or as a single fee at the start of the course. You are required to pay the first module fee of £1,055 to secure your place on the course. You may also consider corporate sponsorship and employer funding. Our Admissions Team will be able to assist you with next steps.
Course fees will remain fixed for 24 months from your initial course start date. Thereafter, the course fee will rise at a rate of 2.5% per calendar year (subject to rounding for administration purposes).
*Modules 1 – 10 (15 credits each) cost £1,055 and module 11 (30 credits) costs £2,110.
