John lives in [[Epsom]], [[Surrey]] with his Wife and son. John is the youngest of 3 brothers and grew up in [[Ewell]] Village where he and his brothers attended [[Glyn School]] for Boys. |

John studied [[Graphic Design]] at [[Epsom School of Art]] and after a period as a Pack Shot Photographer was employed by [[Nikon]] UK as their senior technical specialist. During the “Nikon Years” John was establishing a reputation as a rock photographer. One thing led to another and John left [[Nikon]] to pursue a full time career as a professional music photographer. |

When not working John can often be found in the South West of England ([[Polruan]] and [[Fowey]]) sea fishing, photographing the dramatic scenery and walking the coastal paths with his wife and son. John also enjoys playing guitar, bourbon, poker, using [[Apple Macs]] and is a founder of the "The Norse". |

John McMurtrie (1969- ) is a British music photographer. He is well known for his striking portraits of musicians usually in the heavy rock arena. He regularly shoots covers for Metal Hammer magazine and Total Guitar magazine and also contributes to Rolling Stone (USA) and Q magazine (UK).
John lives in Epsom, Surrey with his Wife and son. John is the youngest of 3 brothers and grew up in Ewell Village where he and his brothers attended Glyn School for Boys.
