mirandasings08 is an internet meme character created by California-based theatre student Colleen Ballinger, and proliferated via YouTube.[1] The character is a satire of increasingly common YouTube videos featuring underqualified singers who film themselves singing as a form of self-promotion.
Ballinger's character has enjoyed widespread popularity[2], and has recently appeared under the alias "Miranda Sings" at live club and theater venues in New York (Birdland Jazz Club[3]) and London (Ambassadors Theatre[4])[5]
In late April, 2009, a review on BroadwayWorld.com described Ballinger as an "Internet Superstar."[6]
