--Seems a bit misleading to me that "Yokosuka Naval Base" should redirect to this page. Yokosuka has been the site of a Japanese naval base for over a hundred years--and it remains the site of a JMSDF base as well as the US naval base. It seems strange to me that there is no other page that details the Japanese side of the story about naval activities around Yokosuka--which, after all, is in Japan. 68.32.208.118 (talk) 05:11, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

-- 26JAN08 - Deleted the photo of the USS Midway and the USS Independence. Reasoning is that it is misleading, as the photo was not taken at the Naval base in Yokosuka, and is also therefore irrelevant to the article's subject.

This page does not mention a word about submarines in Yokosuka but two of them are clearly visible there. I made photos two weeks ago http://no.spam.ee/~tonu/gallery/index.php/Japan-2012/Yokosuka-february-2012 . Meanwhile I grant Wikipedia to use any of those with usual CC license. Ships listed are ONLY those with Yokosuka, they might have been only "passing Thru" for a port Visit. In the Past, Some US diesel subs were homeported here (through mid 1980s). OR could it be a Japanese submarine in the picture? Wfoj3 (talk) 16:55, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

More thoughts - Most ships forward based in Japan here usually only maintain homeport there for a set period of time. Most ships - other Ships - the Aircraft Carrier and Command Ship (LCC) maintain their homeport there near indefinite. Does anyone happen to know the US navy policy intended length of time stationed there? I recall in the 1980s the shipyards there were considered very good in some respects. I suspect that USN now has a policy for MAJOR overhauls - upgrades mid-life, ships are transferring homeport back to the US. NOT just the carriers, also the DDG & CGs. The Stripes.com references lead to incorrect content material; they are not related to Yokosuka Naval Base — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grafsp (talkcontribs) 08:25, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
