Creation of article
Once again, article created, feel free to make it better. --Monstez 15:45, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Article Name
Many sources list "Karen"'s name as "Kallen", not Karen. Even the official Japanese website lists her name as Kallen. Any suggestions that the page should be re-named? --24.82.132.101 00:04, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Seems like her name was romanized or something, anyway, this was already decided, see the talk page for the list of characters of Code Geass. --Monstez 06:49, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm against the renaming of the page. The Japanese have a history of mispelling english words and this is simply another example. It carries over the problems with their ability to use the letter r (which sounds more like l commonly). The argument that "Kallen" is her "Japanese" name doesn't seem to hold any weight since "Kallen" is not a japanese name, it would more likely be that they anglicized "Karin" to "Karen" if this was the case. Kyaa the Catlord 19:06, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Nope, no renaming, Karen Stadfeld, Karen and that's final. since at the list of code geass characters page already using Karen, let's just stick to Karen. --Monstez 05:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- And do you have any idea as to how easy it is to change both? First of all, nobody dictates these pages. Second, This is no matter of misspelling, but rather a purposefully-made cultural dillema the writers have created, that Karen has already weighed in on. She doesn't want to use her english name because she considers herself Japanese. She refers to herself Karen Kouzuki anywhere she doesn't need to put on some charade. This page should be named what the character "prefers" to be known as with a references to any nicknames placed in the appropriate areas. This is what was done with the Death Note articles, and makes sense. Besides, your romanization of "Stadtfeld" is disputed anyway. -Biokinetica 03:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm a little confused, so you're saying the article should be named Kallen and not Karen? And I don't think it's what the character "prefers" it's what the producer "decides". :D --Monstez 03:13, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Read what I say, and it won't be so confusing. The article should be titled "Karen Kouzuki" because that is what the character - through the writers - considers her true name. And although i'm not condoning you trying to be cute about this, the producer has evidently "decided" that her name is Karen Kouzuki. -Biokinetica 03:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Keep it as it is now and just wait until the US release to make a final decision. It won't be long until the Fall. Fox816 23:58, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Monstez: "Final", is it? That's not how things are done here on Wikipedia. Having been the one to start the article doesn't give you special authority over it. This site operates via consensus, not unilateral declarations. Kyaa: As far as your supposition that "Kallen" is a case of Engrish...I'm pretty sure it's intentional that her Japanese and Britannian names are spelled differently, symbolizing the differences between her real self and her false persona. Biokinetica: You have a point about "Karen Kouzuki" being the character's preferred name, but WP:COMMONNAME applies. The character is best known as Kallen Stadtfeld. — Red XIV (talk) 07:22, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Found on your talk page [1]. Your response to the evidence presented there was "good enough for me". Have you forgotten? Kyaa the Catlord 08:42, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Don't contradict youself Redxiv, firstly, being the first to create this article does not means I'm the "ruler" of this article, please do not insult my knowledge, secondly, this discussion can go on and on so let's just stick with one name, because if you insisted on changing the name to Kallen now, later another fella comes along and insisted on changing to Karen back, this will be no end. Stick with one name first. --Monstez 04:46, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
