Homogenic

It's a shame I know! What stinks is I own a book called "The Greatest 100 Album Covers of all time" and there is tons and tons of information about the album Post. Someone has seemed to have been influenced by my Homogenic edit and tackled quite a bit of Post. If I can ever find some good articles about it, I'll try to re-add some information. I'm glad you liked the article. I'll try to add more watch my spelling and grammar in the future. ;) Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:55, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the alleged copyvio from http://india.tilos.hu/english_gh_maihar.html

Hi, I noticed that you removed a lot of material from Alauddin Khan (and also from Imdad Khan) based on similarities with http://india.tilos.hu/english_gh_maihar.html . However, I am pretty sure that the copyvio is reverse, i.e. they copied the content from Wikipedia.

I was one of the original contributors to the article when it was started in 2005. Another contributor is User:Shmitra, and the "Early life" part was in the article from the beginning. I can ask Shmitra to vouch for any text he added, but I'm pretty sure that the "Early life" part is definitely copied from Wikipedia to that site.

I checked the site's Hungarian version, and the text in http://india.tilos.hu/gh_maihar.html does not match the English version of it at http://india.tilos.hu/english_gh_maihar.html . I did a check at the Internet Archive, and they also don't have the English version till 2007. So, it seems that the site copied content from Wikipedia, not the reverse. The same applies to Imdad Khan. I am restoring the text, and will put a note towards this in the edit summary. --Ragib (talk) 21:32, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I wrote a lot of the deleted text, I’m sad to see stuff has been deleted just because some Hungarian copied it to his own site. 07:12, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Please don’t delete Enayat Khan because the same text is on http://india.tilos.hu/english_gh_imdad.html. The tilos.hu site copies its content from Wikipedia – it would be a shame if this lead to deletion of Wikipedia articles! I wrote Enayat Khan from scratch, more or less, so I’m sure about this! J.C. Watts

Sorry if I got the details of the termination of the review wrong - my account was driven by the Talk page's history, which shows that you added the "failed GA" template. Feel free to add your account of the circumstances to the review page. I understand why you want to wait until after the 2010 gubernatorial campaign - if you got a revised article to GA now, the 2010 update might be enough for someone to asks for a reassessment; OTOH if Watts wins, a review of his record in that office could not reasonably be expected until at least 2012 and more likely 2013-2014. Best wishes --Philcha (talk) 22:14, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Clark (poet)

Hi. Please stop 'cleaning up' this page! TWO people who have been involved in publishing Clark's work, and therefore know what they're doing, are trying to improve this article. One is a poet and the other is an editor of 20 years' experience (me). There are plenty of citations and references, I see no evidence that the paragraphs from the Washington University website are copyright, however a revised version of that material can be posted if you will please leave it there. I asked for the article to be re-assessed not deleted!!!Zephirine (talk) 11:07, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Christine Griffin

Updated DYK query On April 27, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Christine Griffin, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

I'm glad to see Gná and Hófvarpnir listed as a good article. But I noticed you changed the "topic" parameter from "Philrelig" to "Religion, mysticism, and mythology". The "topic parameter should have one of the ten predefined values listed at Wikipedia:GAPQ#Categories; otherwise the article is categorized at Category:Uncategorized good articles. Arlen Specter reassessment

Hi - I see that you reclassified Arlen Specter early this afternoon (Monday) to C-class, but without any explanation of why you felt it had deteriorated from the last rating, or what you'd recommend for improvements. Since then, a great deal of work has been done on the piece - clarifying content, adding and improving style of references, removing POV and more. Since this article's readership went from 618 views on Sunday to over 70,000 views on Monday [1], I wonder if you might take a look at the revised article and see if you think the classification can be improved accordingly. There still are issues with the article, and I don't think it's at GA level, but I do think it is well beyond C class at this point and would appreciate some feedback and acknowledgment of all the work that was put in today. Thanks. Tvoz/talk 06:35, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response - I haven't looked back to see how the article read when it was originally given the B rating, or if it was justified then, so I suppose it may have deteriorated since then. I agree that section needs references and more work - I've tried to eliminate a lot of opinion and unsourced POV analysis, but will work on it some more. Hope whoever wrote it will appear with some references, actually, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll also look into the reassessment page for guidelines - didn't think of that. Neverwinter Nights 2

Savras

Good work on citing sources! I wish more people (and I know I'm guilty) would have written D&D articles by citing the sources that way. :) Really excellent! There are a few hundred more articles like it, so I'm sure you'll find something you want to work on. :) I've been meaning to get to work on more articles this way, but finding the time to do the proper research hasn't been easy. BOZ (talk) 23:55, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to have you - we don't have too many hard working editors on the project these days, but those of us who are try to stick it out. :) Hey, I'll take well-sourced in-universe info over... well, completely unsourced anything. :) Most D&D subjects have little or no out-of-universe info available, so we will have to make do without until we can figure out what better to do with them. If you do any others as you did with Savras, I'll consider that a huge improvement. BOZ (talk) 00:26, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've nominated Savras, an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. RE:User talk:Allstarecho - A better idea is to leave one message containing links to the files you've tagged for deletion. Recent edit for Kenneth Cockrel, Jr.

Please make sure you do a little research before reverting edits as you did here. A quick google search would show you that he did indeed return as President of the Detroit City Council. Here's more proof from the City of Detroit website[2]. Misunderstanding, I modified the starting date for when he became president of the council. When you removed the title from the infobox I misread your edit summary to mean he hasn't been president since 1998. Sorry. RobDe68 (talk) 08:02, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

D&D assessments

Hey, good work!  :) One thing I'd like to mention though; in cases where an article has been redirected but no content was merged, it's best to use the redirect class instead of the merge class. One day when I have several hours to kill (it'll never happen), I plan to go through the "redirect" and "merge" classes and sort out what really is what because right now they are far from accurate.  :) BOZ (talk) 15:11, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! It's really a minor thing, though. BOZ (talk) 19:20, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The bot assumed that it was a good article because it was listed on WP:GA by Arsenikk, who corrected his mistake after 29 minutes, by which time the deed was done. It didn't - and shouldn't - make these decisions for itself. - Jarry1250 (t, c) 15:42, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Matthew Butler

My first thought was to wait for a few days, since User:Lordoliver has edited sparingly in the past month. However, after looking through the article, I feel that more could be added (not a lot more necessarily, but given his career it does feel light), and that it probably would be best to fail it. Please remember to transclude the page into the article's talk page. Keep all transclusion on the talk page, rather than hide it after it's updated to {{ArticleHistory}}[3] OhanaUnitedTalk page 19:27, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pay a visit to Wikipedia:Good articles/recent and you'll see that they are transcluded. Why worry when you have nothing to hide? It also increases clarity when an article went through a few GAN/GAR in a row, instead of breaking them into different pages scattered around. And btw, the instructions asked reviewers to transclude the discussion, but never removing it at any time. OhanaUnitedTalk page 19:52, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tracy Stafford

Hekerui - I need some help please. I've written an entry for Tracy Stafford, a former member of the Florida House of Representatives. A box was placed above the entry stating that not enough references were available for what was written, but now I've cited 16 sources, many of them newspaper articles from South Florida. However, I don't know how to request that the box now be removed since almost all of what was written is accounted for from acceptable sources. Please help! Thanks! You don't get to just delete everything you don't like buddy. Work with the page, and the individual facts of each section. If things have been cut and pasted, those can be individually deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BellForner (talkcontribs) 14:32, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tut, tut Hekerui. My previous entry was merely to alert editors that they may be experiencing an increased volume of edits to their work. Posting complaints about "whitewashing" at a site like DailyKos is essentially an invitation a large volume of people (who may or may not be familiar with the rules, so to speak) to change the content. If you've got something to say to ME, then take it to my talk page. It would be awful nice if folks threw less bricks around here and tried to use some common courtesy. Thanks.--Happysomeone (talk) 01:35, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Refrain from deleting material on this page unless you have a specific deletion or edit to make. You went in and reverted to a month ago. Come on, this isn't your wiki. There are others here, respect the work they are doing.

GA Sweeps June update

Thanks to everyone's dedicated efforts to the GA Sweeps process, a total of 396 articles were swept in May! That more than doubles our most successful month of 163 swept articles in September 2007 (and the 2 articles swept in April)! I plan to be sending out updates at the beginning of each month detailing any changes, updates, or other news until Sweeps are completed. So if you get sick of me, keep reviewing articles so we can be done (and then maybe you'll just occasionally bump into me). We are currently over 60% done with Sweeps, with just over a 1,000 articles left to review. With over 40 members, that averages out to about 24 articles per person. If each member reviews an article a day this month (or several!), we'll be completely finished. I know that may be asking for a lot, but it would allow us to complete Sweeps and allow you to spend more time writing GAs, reviewing GANs, or focusing on other GARs (or whatever else it is you do to improve Wikipedia) as well as finish ahead of the two-year mark coming up in August. I recognize that this can be a difficult process at times and appreciate your tenacity in spending time in ensuring the quality of the older GAs. Feel free to recruit other editors who have reviewed GANs in the past and might be interested in the process. The more editors, the less the workload, and hopefully the faster this will be completed. If you have any questions about reviews or the process let me know and I'll be happy to get back to you. Again, thank you for taking the time to help with the process, I appreciate your efforts! --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 18:04, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A review on KIET

Glad you reviewed (and degraded to C from B) the wikipedia page KIET. However, if you could also comment (overall and if possible, on the sections), it would be quite helpful.

The situation is that inspite of having so many students at the college (~2700 currently studying and several thousand passed out) it seems that only I'm the one who is interested about writing about it one the wikipedia... It seems to me apart from several sporadic edits here and there, no one else looks in any way motivated to write.

And as you would perhaps understand, everyone has his own engagements and maintaining articles here is probably not the first thing in sight.

Any suggestions (of course criticisms) would help me a lot(as other more competent people are likely more busy than me). Needless to say if you could arrange things (like photo, tables etc.) that would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, on personal side, i saw a lot of India (my country) related articles on your contributions list and you claim to be from Germany, any reasons? deltaG —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.201.70.188 (talk) 10:44, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, didn't see your note on my talk page until just now. Also, I hadn't noticed you did quite a bit of work on it--thanks! It looks great. (Did you see Kronos Quartet discography? Now a FL!) I know next to nothing about Ram Narayan, but I also did not see any comparisons anywhere. I would imagine, though, that more reviews will be forthcoming and I'll keep my eyes open. BTW, do you have the album? It's purty good. "Get me get me" is great, as is the Ramallah Underground track. I'm a bit ambiguous about the last track, though it has a great title.

While I have you, can you do me a favor? You seem to be pretty good at finding sales information and stuff (and perhaps you have a Billboard subscription?)--I'm working on Love Devotion Surrender which I found as a stub. It had some chart info on it, but unverified. I found two more references, but I can't tell if they contradict each other or if they're for two different listings. If you could be of any assistance there, in adding to it, cleaning it up, verifiying it, that would be great. I got it up to B-status but am eager to get my first GA, haha. Thanks for any help you can provide! Drmies (talk) 17:36, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Article

Thanks for responding to my request for a peer review of the article: Ron Terpening. I had asked for help in how to improve this article. All I see is a notation that more personal data may be needed. Can you give me an idea of what type of personal data you're thinking of? This article has a very extensive section with documented personal data. I don't see how the items mentioned in the C rating section apply: "The article is substantial, but is still missing important content or contains a lot of irrelevant material. The article should have some references to reliable sources, but may still have significant issues . . ." If you have time, I would very much appreciate a bit more direction on how to improve the article, e.g. What type of important content is missing? Or what significant issues remain? Thanks again! I appreciate your help. Newtonsand (talk) 14:39, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great! I've looked at both pages you recommended. The Wikipedia:Lead section is very helpful. I'll have to ponder the "persondata" page at greater length, since it's more complicated. Thanks again! Newtonsand (talk) 14:57, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing the persondata (that would have taken me quite some time to figure out). I've redone the lead, trying to cover the three main areas of the author's work: his novels, his academic work, and his work as an editor. So the lead now mirrors the article's development. I hope you think this improves the article. Newtonsand (talk) 16:47, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a few more internal links to the article Ron Terpening but I can't seem to get the dab right for Charon (second paragraph at the top). That's something I still have to learn. I wonder if you would mind correcting that? I've tried "Charon (Mythology), Charon_(Mythology) both to no effect. Thanks! Newtonsand (talk) 17:00, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work, very nice. One thing: Lalit, it seems to me, ought to be italicized, or at least placed in quotation marks, no? Drmies (talk) 21:42, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps July update

Thanks to everyone's dedicated efforts to the GA Sweeps process, a total of 290 articles were swept in June! Last month was our second most successful month in reviewing articles (after May). We are currently over 70% done with Sweeps, with just under 800 articles left to review. With nearly 50 members, that averages out to about 15 articles per person. If each member reviews an article every other day this month (or several!), we'll be completely finished. This may sound difficult, but if everyone completes their reviews, Sweeps would be completed in less than two years when we first started (with only four members!). With the conclusion of Sweeps, each editor could spend more time writing GAs, reviewing at the backlogged GAN, or focusing on other GARs. Again, I want to thank you for using your time to ensure the quality of the older GAs. Feel free to recruit other editors who have reviewed GANs in the past and might be interested in the process. The more editors, the less the workload, and hopefully the faster this will be completed. If you have any questions about reviews or the process let me know and I'll be happy to get back to you.
