STDU Viewer, is a compact viewer for PDF, DjVu, Comic Book Archive (CBR or CBZ), XPS, multipage TIFF, TXT, EMF, WMF, BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, PSD files. It works under Microsoft Windows, and it's free for non-commercial usage.[1]

Features

STDU Viewer has a tabbed document interface[2][3], it displays thumbnails of pages[2][3], it can create users' bookmarks[2][3], make color adjustments[4] and change text settings[5]. The program supports three types of search algorithms and all the search results can be displayed in a list[2].

The rotation to 90 degrees option is useful for monitor rotated into portrait orientation[5]. The opened document pages can be exported to text or image[4].

The size of the setup file is 1,7 Mb, the installed program is about 2,5 Мb (for example, the setup file of the Adobe Reader 9.1 weighs 26.1 MB[6], and Adobe Reader installed is around 335 MB[7]).

Versions history

The first version of STDU Viewer was the version 1.0.60, released the 13th of September, 2007. The program supported only PDF (including hyperlinks embedded), DjVu and TIFF formats.

The Unicode characters have been supported since the version 1.0.76. The Print document function first became available in the version 1.4.7.

Critical reception

STDU Viewer was appreciated for a variety of ebook formats and can be considered as a replacement to Adobe’s reader[3].

The program doesn't support online help CHM files, LIT,[3] DOC, ePUB and HTML. When printing PDF document, a large temporary file is created, so the printing process is slow.
