At the age of two, Geronimo showed good timing and vocal potential, and already wanted to sing and perform on stage.[12] When she was four, she appeared as a regular member of the cast of the children's TV show Pen-Pen de Sarapen group (1992-1994), hosted by Connie Angeles.[1][13] At six, she did a mini-concert at Isetann Cinema Complex on Recto Avenue, a few blocks away from their house.[13] Later, she joined a singing contest sponsored by PLDT, where she performed "The Greatest Performance of My Life" and won first prize.[12] At the age of eight, she enrolled at the Center for Pop Music Philippines where she received her first formal music and voice lessons.[13] Geronimo was also performing in hotel lounges, on campuses, and in shopping malls, while guesting in various TV shows; around this time she was cast in the ABS-CBN landmark children's show Ang TV.[1][13] She also played a cameo role in Star Cinema’s Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa.[13]
During this time, Geronimo's family experienced financial and other trouble; the bankruptcy of the family business and sickness in the family led to financial problems, making it difficult to afford audition and tuition fees.[12]
Career breakthrough: 2002-2003
Due to family's financial problems, in 2002 Geronimo entered a nationwide singing contest previously aired in IBC 13, the Star For A Night competition hosted by Regine Velasquez. Her rendition of "To Love You More" and "To Mother with Love" made the judges see a rising star in her appearance.[12] The 14 yrs old Geronimo won the competition on March 1, 2003 with a prize of 1 million pesos and a 10-year contract with Viva Entertainment Group.[12] In addition, Vicente Del Rosario, owner of Viva Management became Geronimo's manager. After the singing competition, she was given the title of Pop Star Princess.[2]
Geronimo became the featured artist in MTV’s Rising Star for the Whole month of September.[1] Also in the same month Geronimo released her debut album, Popstar: A Dream Come True and her first concert at the music museum with the same title.[14][15] The album Popstar: A Dream Come True produced singles such as "Forever's Not Enough", "If Only", "To Love You More," and "Sa Iyo".[2] On October 4, 2003, Geronimo staged first concert Popstar: A Dream Come True with the same title as her first album. Due to public request, On October 24 2003, Geronimo staged her Popstar: A Dream Come True: The Repeat.[14]
Geronimo's acting career starts in the film Filipinas where she's been introduced as an actress and not a singer.[13] Geronimo's co-star in the film, Maricel Soriano predicts a bright future for Sarah. Soriano said that:
That girl will go far. She’s only 14, right? For someone like Sarah who is first time to appear and act in a film, she's good and I'm proud of her.[16]
Rise to Fame: 2004-2007
In 2004, Geronimo signed a contract with ABS-CBN, where she had her first acting project starring in a drama series entitled Sarah, The Teen Princess.[17][18] She also stars in a musical variety show, ASAP that aired every Sunday. In 2006, she was cast in ABS-CBN's primetime soap opera, Bituing Walang Ningning, a remake of the 1985 classic box-office hit movie. She stars as an aspiring singer named Dorina Pineda, the role originally played by Sharon Cuneta in the movie version in 1985.[26] She also released a soundtrack of the series. Her third studio album, Becoming, it was produced by Christian De Walden, and released in August 2006. The album yielded three singles: "I Still Believe In Loving You", "Carry My Love" and "Iingatan Ko Ang Pag-ibig Mo". According to one critic, "the album isn't completely successful...it's nevertheless heartening to hear Sarah spreading her musical wings by trying new types of songs that wouldn't have been considered in the lineup of her showy first albums."[27] International producer and composer Christian De Walden was the producer of Becoming album. He said during the launch of the album: "She definitely is the biggest talent I have come across with the last ten years". Thus, the audience suffered from the hot atmosphere in the coliseum". Viva Management said that this time, we have a back-up generator, so there's nothing to worry about. [32] Geronimo also concluded that she was excited in her concert because, she is going to do a energetic and full performance dance with Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano. Directing Sarah Geronimo In Motion is GB Sam Pedro. While Marc Lopez is the musical director with the cameo participation of the musical genius, Louie Ocampo.[32] After this concert, Sarah has a follow-up concert of the same title in Clark Expo in Pampanga on July 21 2007.[32] Geronimo also concluded Sarah Geronimo In Motion US tour last August-September 2007.[9][33]

You know Sarah, I'm one of your million fans. I've told you this, you're awesome, you're amazing... You are so blessed that's why I've told you, Sarah, You're "The One".[43]
Geronimo accepted his compliment. Backstreet Boy member Howie Dorough also took time to help Sarah for her third major concert. He pre-taped the song "I'll Be There" and the Popstar Princess sang it along with him during one segment of the show.[43]
Her fifth studio album, Just Me (Sarah Geronimo album), was re-released, adding You Changed My Life. Just Me album's lead single I’ll Be There, where she duets with Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough.[44] I’ll Be There is produced by Christian de Walden of Hollywood and was composed by Al Taveel and Pamela Philips-Oland.[44] Geronimo was also recognized by ASAP '08 for achieving a rare feat: attaining the Platinum status for two of her albums (2007's Taking Flight and 2008's Just Me) and her two DVD concert (2005's The Other Side and 2007's Sarah In Motion), each album and DVD achieve more than 25,000 units of sales.[35] In February 2009, Geronimo appeared in the follow-up movie with John Lloyd Cruz, You Changed My Life (A Very Special Love Sequel).[7] The film earned PHP 240.44 million total theatrical earnings and is ranked as the "Highest Top-Grossing Filipino Film of All Time".[45] In March-April 2009, Geronimo went to US for her 'The Next One" US tour, where she receive positive reviews and comments from the people that watched her concert. Report said that: "Geronimo treated her fans to a dynamic performance, belting out ballads in English and Tagalog and electrifying the stage with upbeat dance numbers. The celebrities that seen during the concert were Regine Velasquez, Rachelle Ann Go, Anne Curtis, Iya Villania, and Rayver Cruz.[50] Velasquez made the a most telling gesture when she gave Geronimo a pearl necklace when the latter went down to the audience.[50] Many saw it as a symbolic "passing of the torch" between two music royalties of the philippines.[50]
