Sean Hartter
Sean Hartter (born November 6, 1973 in Brockton, Massachusetts) in an American illustrator and musician. He is best known for his poster art, musical projects and his comic book character "Nobody the Idiot".
Music
The Man from Nod
Hartter has primarily been doing music under the alias of "The Man from Nod". He creates music using various instruments that he and his friends record live as well as using drum loops and machines. His musical style ranges from heavier industrial metal to more electronic funk. "The Man From Nod" previously released 5 CDs which are out of print. A new release is planned for 2011.
Brothermaniac
Doug Salvador's musical project Brothermaniac has almost completed work on their second release "Look Who's Back". The first release "Brothermaniac, Inc." is available through many online retailers. Salvador is Hartter's life-long friend and musical collaborator. Hartter appears on the releases under the name Mockdog and creates remixes of the music in addition to laying down vocals.
The Metal Massacre Internet Radio Show
The Metal Massacre Internet Radio Show broadcasts every Friday night from 9pm-1am. Hartter co-hosts with Metal Mark and Doug Salvador on bunkradio.com where they play metal music from all eras and talk about pointless topics.
Work in Film
More recently, he has composed music for director Dante Tomaselli. His music will be featured in the upcoming feature film Torture Chamber, for which he also created all of the promotional poster art.
Artwork
Early Work
In 2004, Hartter worked for the Taunton Gazette Newspaper for which he was a movie reviewer and cartoonist. He has also done freelance work for numerous other magazines including The South Coast Insider where he was a staff writer. Also in 2004, his work appeared in Star Wars Insider magazine.
In 2007, he wrote and drew a story entitled Dios Del Tiburon y Los Fantasmas Mecanicos in the Mexican comic book El Comiquero Volume Two from Mexico's 656 Comics.
In 2008, CatsCurious Press published the children's book Three Things About Animals...And Only One of Them's True written by Jason Shannon with artwork by Hartter.
Recent/Future Work
He has recently has artwork in numerous issues of UK's Cereal:Geek Magazine as well as pin-ups for multiple comic books. Hartter's artwork has also been featured on many websites, including The BatBlog, for which he creates exclusive Batman-themed desktop backgrounds because he is a raving Batman fanatic.
He currently works with the syndicated television show "Saturday Fright Special" which showcases classic and obscure horror films. He provides each show with poster art done in his unique style. The posters appear at every commercial break as a transitional image. He also designs posters for SFS's "Spooktacular" events held at the Colonial Theater in Keene, New Hampshire.
Summer 2010 will see the publication long-awaited compilation comic Nobody the Idiot: Stupid Wars which features different artist's interpretations of his character "Nobody the Idiot". Included are such amazing artists as BRUTE!, Ryan Dunlavey, Tom Whalen, Michael Loya, Scott Triffle, Tim Kelly and many many more. Hartter is also working with Herb Trimpe on a web project.
As he did in 2009, in Fall 2010 Hartter will provide posters for the Vermont Samurai Kaiju Festival event held in Brattleboro, Vermont .
The promotional campaign for Dante Tomaselli's 2010 horror film "Torture Chamber" features grindhouse style posters that recall designs from the 70's and 80's.
Hartter will also self-publish his first novel "Mars Hall" in 2010. He began work on the novel in 1998 and completed it in 2009.
Personal Life
Hartter is married with two sons and lives in Easton, Massachusetts.
