The Easter Stakes is the former name of a flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and geldings. It is run over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres) at Kempton Park, usually on the Saturday of Easter weekend.
The current version of the race does not have a registered title. It was called the Betfred "Double Delight" Conditions Stakes in 2012.
History
The Easter Stakes was originally run on turf.[1] For a period it was classed at Listed level. It could serve as a trial for various colts' Classics in Europe.
The race was transferred to Kempton's newly-opened Polytrack circuit in 2006. It was demoted from Listed status in 2010, when the three-year average of its winners' ratings failed to reach the required level.
The ungraded version of the race was initially backed by 32Red. The bookmaking company Betfred became its sponsor in 2012.
