Common name of seaweed in Korean

[edit]

Can you tell me what is the common korean name for Ecklonia bicyclis, if it exist? Thank you. R5b43 (talk) 17:22, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That's a synonym for Eisenia bicyclis, which redirects per WP:COMMONNAME to Arame. That article says it is 荒布 in Japanese, and cultivated in S. Korea. So I'd be fairly optimistic that there is a widely known common name in Korean. I don't speak any Korean but this book [1] seems to indicate that Arame is known as "kompi" in Korean. This book [2] also seems to corroborate "kompi" as used for Ecklonia in Korean. I also added a header, in the future please use the button at top to add questions so that headers are created automatically. SemanticMantis (talk) 19:38, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
