User name

Hi, it would be good to be aware of WP:PROMONAME and also WP:CONFLICT. Regards, Cavrdg (talk) 08:59, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cavrdg Is it possible to have someone else write the page for me? Wikipedia is great for finding the right traffic. Maybe we can create pages for each other? Redblondefox (talk) 00:44, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's really not a good idea. I'll add WP:PROMOTION and Wikipedia:Autobiography to the policies you should read and follow. --Cavrdg (talk) 09:19, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Sounds like using my business name while signing up was a bad idea. Redblondefox (talk) 18:30, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 20:19, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, let's hope I am doing this right.
To do this, insert the text {{unblock-redblondefox|change to blackdarkrebel|My reason is to help my audience keep up with my evangelism travels and I also want to write articles to help others gain recognition for their hard efforts in society}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. Am I doing this right? Redblondefox (talk) 21:40, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Orange Mike, they fixed it. Now, how do I change my username from redblondefox? I don't want anymore issues with the admins. Please help! IDK what to do? traveldiaries (talk) 21:46, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, the template must go at the bottom of your talk page. But to help my audience keep up with my evangelism travels is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. You will not be unblocked for that purpose. Cullen328 (talk) 21:48, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, I think I found the page. I am requesting to change it to SwiftyFox instead of Red Blonde Fox. I have also explained to my team the importance of reviewing guidelines before writing posts about me. I hope this helps. traveldiaries (talk) 22:20, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here} swiftyfox | We are reviewing Wikipedia's username rules and making changes to our account to align ourselves as requested. Please change the username to swiftyfox. The other account has been deleted. I will be checking in to make sure everything is getting revised. Thank you to Wikipedia's Team for your help. traveldiaries (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is it "we" or "I"? In other words, how many people have access to this account? --Orange Mike | Talk 22:42, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Orange Mike, I don't remember who I talked to earlier but if you want I can explain everything again. It's no big deal. I am an international evangelist and I am working with a team of editors to create a Wikipedia page because I have been receiving a lot of feedback from people wanting to know more about me. It's becoming exhausting, so I agreed to the Wikipedia page being created in hopes of dialing down the questions a bit. You know how it is. Anyways, I left to attend an event out of town and apparently while I was gone, I left orders to have the account created with my stage name. Nobody, at least to my knowledge was aware of the Wikipedia rules on usernames and pages being the same. And I will take the fall on telling everyone that the username should be the same as the page for memory reasons. I got a message last week stating that there was an issue with the account having the same name as page name. So, I am now emailing you to straighten everything out. Afterwards, I'm going to brief my team on your rules so they will know what to do. The IP address will likely be the same for everyone because of location reasons. So I have to warn you about that as you will be seeing a lot of that happening and they are allowed to use my computer to handle business work. I am also interviewing about 10 candidates to handle other accounts on my behalf. So I think that's roughly about 21 employees plus myself, 22 people in total. I am very blessed to have a great team of people.
Can you please enlighten me on Wikipedia's rules so that I can mentor my team on how to write their articles? traveldiaries (talk) 22:56, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Notice From the Fox
I have been informed by the Wikipedia Staff regarding their rules on usernames and created pages. First I want to commemorate everyone on your hard work. It has been a crazy wild year for all of us. I feel so blessed to work with you. It truly warms my heart.
Now, I have to hit you with hard stuff. Sorry in advance. Remember, I love all of you. Please in future endeavors make sure to read and abide by the rules of the sites. I was very surprised and happy to see the Wikipedia page that you created for me. Yes, I agree, the Wikipedia page is truly going to be a blessing to everyone. I can know have you write the answers to the questions I'm forever being asked about. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Mucho gracias amigas.
I was also very surprised to receive emails from the Wikipedia Team regarding their rules and regulations on usernames and user pages. I have read their policies and I have begun the process that I need you to finish for me while I'm out on the road. I'll be back if the Lord be willing. In the meantime, the Wikipedia page, Red Blonde Fox cannot share it's name with the username, Red Blonde Fox. Yes, I know what I previously requested but that's was before Wikipedia team politely emailed me their policies. So, you can keep the name of the page Red Blonde Fox. Change the username to something else. (see if the username: swiftyfox has been taken or not. If not, grab it!) Also, I noticed some errors on the page. You forgot to mention the "What The Harrison? Tour [Documentary]. It was my first inter-state tour. Please add that. Thank you! I don't think you forgot anything else.
Thank you Wikipedia Team for your help, if there is anything else you like to add, simply mention it here and my team will work to correct it. Also, please use the company laptop! I don't want you using any other laptops for this Wikipedia page. I love you all. See you next week!

Given that you appear to have a complete misunderstanding as to the purpose of Wikipedia, I suggest that you start by reading Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, paying particular attention to the section entitled 'Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion'. Whether you have 'agreed to [a] Wikipedia page being created' or not is of absolutely no relevance here, since it is up to us, the Wikipedia community, to determine what subjects we carry articles on. And decisions on such matters are based on Wikipedia notability criteria (specifically Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) for your organisation) which is demonstrated only through in-depth coverage in Wikipedia:Reliable sources independent of the subject. If and when an article on your organisation is ever created, you would have absolutely no editorial control over the content (which might possibly include negative material, if properly sourced), and any input from you and your employees regarding such matters would be covered both by Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guidelines and by Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure policy. If you are looking to find ways to communicate your message with 'people wanting to know more about me' I suggest you look elsewhere. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:32, 27 October 2024 (UTC)'[reply]
