thank you so much

Sorry sorry

I now realize it's not you that I had an editing battle with. I'm very sorry about my outburst. I'm just as guilty as the person who squashed my legit article. You are a good guy and I'm sorry I confused you with another.

Hi - I am going to add text; I shouldn't have saved it so quickly with the photo. Won't repeat. Keep up the good work. --DavidShankBone 20:57, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh - I like that Under Construction tag. Added some text and a stub. --DavidShankBone 21:11, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, thank you!

Aww, sweet dear Tapir, thank you so very much for the incredibly kind words and the beautiful gift! :) I loved it with all of my heart, so much that I really don't know what to say... you really made me go "awww" staring at it, and your message was extremely special and sweet. It is true, we may had not met until now, but that's just a coincidence, for I know we will talk more in the future. Needless to say, I consider you a friend now, so please, don't hesitate to drop by and visit me if you ever, ever need my help, or if you just feel like talking, k? A great, big hug to you, and thanks again! Phaedriel The WProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 i Soundtrack! - 22:08, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate the welcome :) Thank you! RandomGalen 22:50, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks, but your POV reason for deletion is my reason to include

The feminism, radical feminism and feminazi pages do not have a broad enough POV, they just spew out the 'party line' feminist propaganda, that is why changes need to be made in order have a more inclusive POV. There are no criticism or other perspectives, compare this to 'Father's Rights, with pages of criticism attached. I have included references and other citations, but I will work on that some more. I tried to add the book cover of 'women of the Klan' but this too was deleted ... is it OK to use book covers as images? there is no link to a commercial site selling the book, the book cover has a very good and rage photo of early WKKK members in robes, and illustrates the comments that cite the book. My understanding is that book covers automatically qualify for no copyright infringment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Loneranger4justice (talkcontribs)

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome message - I've only been registered for two days and it's the first message on my talk page!

Sorry

That was a goof. I've never made that mistake before. Scottandrewhutchins 18:17, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that they said tapir and wanted to change them. I finally got to see a tapir in r/l a couple of weeks ago. A lot of people didn't look at the placard and were asking each toher what it was, but I knew. Scottandrewhutchins 18:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the pic help!

I was becoming pretty frustrated trying to scale the image down on an exterior application, and there you come to the rescue with a few keystrokes!!!

Thanks for the message. I just started out adding a link and correcting some spelling issues.

Hello!

Hey! I was just thinking about you, wondering where you wandered off to. Thought you disappeared into the forest. =) Yeah, that vote change on the AfD was pretty odd, but that addition of a user box was odder. I'm glad that you're still around. =) -- Gogo Dodo 06:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: Need more tape? =) Packing is not much fun. About that userbox vandal, I'm pretty sure I know who that was. Ran into him earlier. I suspect that when a certain admin comes back from vacation, he's going to get thwacked. I reverted his self-welcome (never seen it before) since it wiped out two warnings. Wheee... -- Gogo Dodo 17:17, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reality TV Contestants

I've started a discussion section on the Deletion Policy page regarding reality television contestants. My main point is this: the ABC.com homepage does a perfectly fine job of sorting out who is a contestant, and their background. Jimmy Wales stated we should focus on quality, not quantity. What is it that these entries give to the internet that is not already covered by their homepages for the game shows?

Would you mind weighing in with an opinion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Deletion_policy#Reality_Telvision_Contestants

Welcome

Hi Tapir,

Could I steal your welcome message, as I frequently find myself welcoming newcomers and frankly, your welcome is much more welcoming than the standard temp? Let me know, TewfikTalk 20:35, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you use a userspace template? And since we're on the topic, how do you make the in/out notifier. Cheers, TewfikTalk 21:34, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The best of luck with your move - thanks, TewfikTalk 23:05, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Tapir; you welcomed me because I'm new, and thanks to this. I really don't know how start with here, although I have some other posts in other sites. But I want to be at home here, thanks to you. Hope you guide me through the long stretches of wikipedia.

Could use your help

Tapir, I could use your help: my Floyd Abrams articles have been nominated for deletion. I explain the point behind them on the deletion page, but if you think this is important information I could sure use someone backing me up. I have spent so many countless hours working on it, that if it's deleted I'll have to taken an extended vacation from contributing, because I think it is very important. I'm all for deleting useless and vanity-fuelled articles, but this man is living history, and I took it upon myself to do this (after I read the book he gave me when I went to take his photograph for Wikipedia). I am writing a grant-proposal around the project; if it's deleted, well, that would hurt me a lot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Floyd_Abrams_and_the_Pentagon_Papers_case --DavidShankBone 03:05, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Feminazi

Mens Rights Insert This is blatant propaganda by the mens rights network which is trying to link an offensive, abusive term for feminists to organisations such as the KKK and other racist groups. You wrote that youd deleted his references to the women of the clan book etc but hes putting them all back in.

Feminazi is a WORD - it is not and never has been an organisation which lynched or killed men, or indeed anybody.

Giving this loneranger4justice cretin a platform for his ridiculous and unsubstantiated opinions is nothing short of shameful and Wikipedia is failing in its neutrality.

As someone else has written - an addendum on the end of the Wiki misandry entry would suffice.

Wikipedia is a laughing stock trumpeting its neutrality whilst simultaneously allowing the personal opinions of one man who claims to represent "mens rights" this sort of exposure.

Its an exercise in futilty and a failed resource

Invitation to Meetup/Seattle6, a focus group

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. Our end goal is to create an embedded application that helps people quickly know more about others' history and activity on Wikipedia, and we feel our design will be much more useful if it's based on insights of users like you.

I'm hoping that the chance to help out local researchers, to engage in lively face-to-face discussion with other Seattle Wikipedians, and to contribute to Wikipedia in a new way will entice you to join us. The session lasts 2 hours and snacks are provided. Sessions will be held on UW Seattle campus - directions will be sent after registration. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Willing and able to help us out? RSVP here. Want to know more? Visit our user talk page . Please help us contact other local Wikipedians, too! Commprac01 (talk) 01:44, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tapir Terrific,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
