[edit]

Vensatry I'm puzzled by your recent edit to Ajith Kumar filmography. I had just completed a copy-edit in response to a request made at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests. It is true that during my copy-edit of the article I changed unspaced em-dashes to spaced en-dashes. That was because I prefer the appearance of spaced en-dashes. Both are acceptable, according to MOS:DASH, as long as they are consistent throughout the article. Of course, you are free to change all the en-dashes to em-dashes, but before changing them you might first have considered asking the person who made the request for a copy-edit, Kailash29792. (Of course, if that editor had a strong preference for em-dashes and conveyed that to me, I would be happy to change them back to em-dashes.) Regarding removing either a no-break space template or an en-dash template from wiki-links, if the template is after the pipe in the link, and is not within a cite ref (which is in pairs of curly brackets), it causes no problems.  – Corinne (talk) 02:12, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Corinne and Vensatry, to be honest, I really don't care to understand any of this em-dash/space-dash/x-dash crap. My interest only lies in expanding the article to its zenith, and any c.e./dash work could be completed by someone who knows perfectly how it works without forcing it upon me. Kailash29792 I certainly am not forcing anything upon you. Some editors care about such details, others do not. I figured I would have heard from you by now if you cared one way or another.  – Corinne (talk) 03:06, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That I don't deny, but merely seeing disagreements over how the space dash must be just caused me more strain over something I don't fully understand. But I'm not gonna argue further; I'm fine with any dash as long as it isn't just a mere hyphen. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:11, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause you any stress at all. My comment was really just directed at Vensatry, but I thought you might like to see it. I didn't see any reason to change an en-dash back to an em-dash when I had just changed all the em-dashes to en-dashes. Besides, if one is changed, they all will need to be changed. If an article is reviewed, the reviewers will be looking for consistency. I'll wait to hear from the editor before doing anything.  – Corinne (talk) 03:22, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Corinne: I've no personal preferences either. But then, in this case I'd switched to em dashes because we use en dashes for the Filmfare link (here any dash is quite unnecessary, IMO). Besides, em dashes have very little problems as far as line breaks are concerned. Didn't mean to disagree with you at all. Cheers Vensatry (talk) 05:15, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Vensatry. When I get time, I will look at other Indian film articles and lists and see how the Filmfare links are written.  – Corinne (talk) 15:25, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Corinne: BTW, can you give a copyedit for Vijay filmography? I've made the request at the WP:GOCE/REQ.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 15:28, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ssven2 I'd be glad to, but you can see that the requests list is rather long, and we usually go more or less in order. Besides, I think I've already accepted a request that I haven't gotten to yet. Is there any particular hurry to get to your article? If so, I could jump further down in the list after I complete the one I signed up to do.  – Corinne (talk) 15:32, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Corinne: It is just that sooner the copyedit, the sooner I'll nominate it for FLC. Also, I could use your inputs on the list's lead.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 15:35, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
O.K.  – Corinne (talk) 15:39, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
