一级方程式赛车(英語:Formula One,也叫Formula 1或者F1)是由国际汽车联盟举办的最高级别的赛车比赛。[1] 名称中的“方程式”是指所有参赛车手和车辆都必须遵守的规则。F1赛季包括一系列的比赛,这些通常被称为“大奖赛”(法語:Grands Prix)的赛事通常在专门修建的赛道上进行,有些情况下也在临时封闭的普通城市道路上举行,其中最有名的是在蒙特卡洛举办的摩纳哥大奖赛。[2]每场比赛的结果算入积分系统并以此确定两个年度世界冠军:一个给车手,另一个给制造商。
紅旗是在發生重大事故或是天候等各種無法排除的外在因素導致比賽無法正常進行時,用以出示批准停止賽事的旗幟。旗幟在賽道的許多地點由工作人員表現之。[3]2007年引進了全球定位系統(GPS)組織系統。它能在車手的賽車座艙內顯示旗幟信號,以警示車手前方有事故。[4]當出示紅旗時,維修站出口會封閉而賽車不能超車,必須依照此時的比賽順位緩慢地回到起跑位置。自2005年起,在安全車領跑一圈進入維修站前在車後會有十分鐘的警示。[5]此前,比賽會從出示紅旗時的前兩圈重新開始。[6]如果比賽無法重新開始,則「比賽成績會採用比賽終止信號發出前兩圈時的結果」。[7]如果仍未完成75%的比賽距離且無法重新恢復比賽,則僅會授予一半的積分。若是比賽進行不到兩圈且無法重啟比賽,則不會授予任何積分。[8]
自1950年第一場世界錦標賽起,紅旗已經出示於83場賽事,最近的一次為2022年5月29日的2022年摩纳哥大奖赛。26場在第1圈重新啟動。13場並未重新開始,其中9場因為雨勢暫停,另外4場則是車手發生事故。5場因為發生致命事故而停止比賽:1975年西班牙大獎賽中,羅爾夫·施托梅倫的賽車在第29圈時撞上觀眾席,造成五人身亡,而比賽並未重新開始。[9]1978年義大利大獎賽因為一場嚴重的事故出示紅旗,羅尼·彼得森最終不治身亡。1982年加拿大大獎賽在首圈暫停,因為理查德·波蘭德撞上前方迪迪埃·皮罗尼的法拉利車尾而身亡。[10]艾爾頓·冼拿在1994年聖馬利諾大獎賽的第5圈通過坦布萊羅彎(Tamburello curve)時,賽車突然失控衝向護牆,比賽也因這場致命的事故出示了紅旗。[11]儒勒·比安奇在2014年日本大獎賽撞上吊車致死,期間共出動了兩次紅旗。[12]
