titleOfInvention PROCESSES TO CONTROL THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE MOLECULAR WEIGHT IN THE ETHYLENE / ALFA OLEFINE COMPOSITIONS
abstract The present invention relates to the compositions and processes for making ethylene / alpha-olefins. More especially, the invention relates to processes for producing ethylene / alpha-olefin compositions having molecular weight distribution. The molecular weight distribution is controlled, for example, by the control of the relative monomer concentrations during contact with a precatalyst and / or using a catalyst which comprises a catalytic amount of a molecule having the structure: (1) wherein M = metal group 2-8 preferably group 4 as a neutral or charged fraction; Y = any substituent including fused rings; L = any ligand group, especially a pyridyl or pyridylamide; X = alkyl, aryl, substituted alkyl, H or hydride, halide, or other anionic fraction; y = an integer from 0 to the full valence of M; R = alkyl, aryl, haloalkyl, haloaryl, hydrogen, etc .; X = 1-6, especially 2; Broken line = the optional link, especially a weak link; and X y (CR2) x can be tied or part of a ring.
