abstract The invention provides a modular tank assembly (and kitset for same) for heating and storing liquids in which the overall footprint of the assembly is determined by the size of the lower tank. This means that the invention has the potential to save space when the modular tank assembly is installed in an environment where there are space constraints, such as a building. Furthermore, unifying the separate upper and lower tanks into a single structure by way of the spacer module makes it easier to install. Should one or the other of the upper and lower tanks require replacement, this can be more easily achieved by simply removing the tank to be replaced, rather than replacing the entire structure. The entire assembly can be made relatively tamper-proof and able to exclude pests and unauthorised access, which is important for hygiene and food safety reasons. The invention has particular application for use as a modular assembly for heating and storing water for cleaning down the bulk containers found in dairy sheds which are used to store milk, and the associated milking plant.
