abstract | Image receiving layer for use in the silver diffusion transfer process, comprises a support bearing a layer composed of at least two surfaces. The first made from a polymer permeable to alkali and contg. the silver precipitation nuclei, the second made from a polymer hydrolysable to an alkali permeable polymer and contg. a diffusible reagent which is designed to modify the photographic properties of the transfer image formed on the surface of the alkali permeable polymer. The hydrolysable polymer is next to the support and prefd. are cellulose esters, polyvinyl esters and polyvinyl acetals. The first layer is pref. regenerated cellulose. The reagent used is a mercapto substd. compd. partic. 1 phenyl-5-mercapto tetrazole and imidazolidine thiono. Improved image tone and stability result. |
