The present invention relates to a lubrication composition comprising a larger amount of base oil and a smaller amount of an additive package, wherein the additive package comprises (a) a friction modifying component selected from: (a) one or more reaction product (s) of an alcohol with a compound of formula iv: r-co-n (ch3) -ch2-cooh and (b) one or more compound (s) of formula ii r-co-n (ch3) -ch2-co-n (r2) (r3) and iii [r-co-n (ch3) -ch2-coo] n-xn + where r is a linear or branched, saturated, unsaturated or partially saturated hydrocarbyl which have from about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms; R 2 and R 3 are independently selected from hydrogen, C 1 -C 18 hydrocarbyl groups, and C 1 -C 18 hydrocarbyl groups containing one or more heteroatom (s); and x is an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium cation and n is the valence of cation x; and (b) at least one detergent. |
