abstract | process for the production of an artificial latex. a process for producing an artificial latex, comprising the following steps: (a) cement formation, where a rubber is dissolved in a suitable hydrocarbon solvent; (b) emulsifying the cement formed in step (a) together with an aqueous soap solution thereby forming an oil-in-water emulsion; and (c) removing the hydrocarbon solvent resulting in a rubber latex having particles of average particle size in the range of about 0.5 to 2.0 micrometers, wherein in step (b) first a preform is formed. which is then homogenized in an oil-in-water emulsion, and where the premix is formed by mixing the aqueous soap solution with the cement in a volumetric ratio between the cement and the aqueous soap solution of 1%. 5 to 3 using at least one homogenizer composed of a stator and a rotor, which is operated at a typical rotor outer ring speed in the range of 8 to 16 mis, and where the premix is subsequently homogenized in a homogenizer. rotor / stator operated at a typical rotor outer ring speed in the range of 16 to 35 mis and where the process optionally is comprised of latex concentration step (d) forming an artificial latex having a higher solids content high. |
