abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Adenine of adenine-containing derivatives substituted ? the nitrogen atom, in position 6, of the adenine nucleus with a functional radical having the general formula: wherein R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and n is an integer between 1 and 4, are obtained by reacting adenine or a compound containing an adenine nucleus with an epoxy-carboxylic acid or ester of the general formula: wherein R and n have the aforesaid meanings, and subjecting the reaction product obtained to a molecular re-arrangement. Adenine-containing compounds are of great importance in biochemistry and the possibility of obtaining functional derivatives thereof widens their field of application.
