| abstract |
In an apparatus of the type for washing paint mist from exhaust air in the exhaust system of a spray-painting operation and wherein the exhaust air is drawn down a funnel inlet through a side wall inlet into an open ended cylindrical mixing chamber, by reduced pressure maintained in said mixing chamber; over and/or through a liquid, and mixed with said liquid by an outwardly spiraling turbulent flow induced in said mixing chamber; to exit said chamber through the open ends thereof; the improvement comprising: an elongated blocking structure centrally disposed in said mixing chamber, blocking access of exhaust air to the central portion of the mixing chamber thereby to increase mixing efficiency by blocking the central low turbulent, low mixing efficiency portions of the mixing chamber. |
