ABSTRACT MACROLIDE COMPOUNDS Compounds of formula (1) (1) and their salts, wherein R1 is a methyl, ethyl or isopropyl group each substituted by a hydroxyl group or R1 is a group -(CH2)nR7 or a group -CH(CH3)R7 (where n is zero or 1 and R7 is CHO or CO2H); Y1 is -CH2-,Y2 is -CH- and X represents [where R2 is a hydrogen atom or a group OR8 is a hydroxyl group or a substituted hydroxyl group having up to 25 carbon atoms) and R3 is a hydrogen atom, or R2 and R3 together with the carbon atom to which they are attached represent >C=O, >C=CH2 or >C=NOR9 (where R9 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-8 alkyl or C3-8 alkenyl group) and the group >C=NOR9 is in the E configuration] or -Y1-X-Y2-represents -CH=CH-CH- or -CH2-CH=C-; R4 is a group OR8 as defined above and R5 is a hydrogen atom, or R4 and R5 together with the carbon atom to which they are attached represent >C=O or >C=NOR8a (where R9a is as defined above for R9); and R8 is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group. The compounds may be used to control nematode, acarine, insect or other pests. |
