A liquid composition is described which comprises (A) a major amount of a fluorine containing hydrocarbon containing one or two carbon atoms, and (B) a minor amount of a soluble organic lubricant comprising at least one carboxylic ester compound characterized by the formulae RO(R1O)n C(O)R2 (I) and R3OC(O)R2 (II) wherein R is a hydrocarbyl group of at least 2 carbon atoms, R1 is a hydrocarbylene group, R2 is H, hydrocarbyl, -CF3, -R4CN, -R4-NO2 or R5OCH(R6)-, R3 is a -R4CF3, -R4CN or -R4NO2 group, provided that R3 may be a hydrocarbyl group when R2 is -R4CN, n is an integer from 1 to about 50, R4 is a hydrocarbylene group, R5 is H, a lower hydrocarbyl group or R7C(O)- where R7 is a hydrocarbyl group, and R6 is H or a lower hydrocarbyl group. Liquid compositions also are described containing fluorine-containing hydrocarbons also containing other halogen such as chlorine. the liquid compositions are useful particularly as refrigeration liquids in refrigerators and air-conditioners including auto, home and industrial air-conditioners. |
