titleOfInvention | Accelerators for use in a metal pickling bath and a process utilizing the accelerators |
abstract | A novel accelerator is provided for use in an organic acid and/or inorganic acid pickling bath process. The accelerator (or accelerators) is provided in an accelerator system which can be added to acid pickling baths. The accelerator is a functionalized hydrocarbyl compound having preferably at least one terminal end including a carboxyl or hydroxyl substituent and the compound further including a sulfur linkage or a terminal sulfur substituent. The accelerating system also includes a stabilizer in order to provide a suitable storage life. The accelerator system is added to a pickling bath which comprises an aqueous solution of one or more organic and or inorganic acids. The accelerator of the present invention is particularly useful for continuous strip pickling processes using hydrochloric acid. |
