titleOfInvention Process for reclaiming crosslinked acrylic scrap
abstract A process for reclaiming crosslinked acrylic scrap. The process comprising comminuting a predominantly (or completely) crosslinked acrylic or methacrylate polymer with an optionally added co-blend of uncrosslinked thermoplastic polymer. This comminuting process taking place in a screw-type extruder wherein high levels of shear are imparted to the polymer(s). These products can be processed with residual monomer content below 0.5 wt.% and without emission of said monomer. These products can be processed into pellet form or extruded into a thermoformable sheet having a smooth matte finish and improved impact resistance.
