The present invention provides a recombinant alphavirus comprising at least one epiviral nonalphaviral sequence, which (i) is present in the E1, E2 or E 3 glycoprotein as an insertion or as a replacement of one or more amino acid residues and which (ii) directly and selectively binds to a region on a targ et cell-specific, surface receptor. The present invention also provides the nucleic acids related to said alphavirus, and methods to treat cancer in a mammal using the alphavirus and related nucleic acids. |
