titleOfInvention Muntin bar clip with spikes
abstract An apparatus of a muntin bar clip (10) to secure the position of muntin bars (65) within multi-pane glass window (70). Muntin bar clips (10) intended to fix the position of hollow false muntin bars at the perimeter of the window unit including foam or butyl strips (82) as the sealing medium. The false muntin bar can be other than orthogonal in relation to the perimeter of the window. The muntin bar clips have a tip end with one or a plurality of spikes (44) wherein the penetration, of one or a plurality of spikes, into the material of the sealing medium secures the position of the muntin bar. The apparatus lessens the likelihood of either breaking or cracking the glass panes (71) or of causing seal failure and increases the likelihood of securing the muntin bars into permanent position.
