Methods of lubricating a tampon and a tampon lubricated thereby |
| abstract |
There is provided a tampon pledget (2) or tampon applicator (3) that is covered by a wrapper (5) having microcapsules (10) thereon. Alternatively, t he microcapsules (10) may simply be disposed on the tampon pledget (2) or tampo n applicator (3). The microcapsules (10) may contain a lubricant or a fragranc e or a combination of both. The microcapsules (10) may be ruptured prior to inserting the tampon pledget (2) or tampon applicator (3) and the resultant free-flowing lubricant and/or fragrance is spread on the tampon pledget (2), tampon applicator (3), or a combination thereof. The luricant increases the ease and comfort of inserting and positioning the tampon pledget (2) or tamp on applicator (3). The amount of lubricant desired may be controlled by varying the pressure applied to the microcapsules (10). Thus, the number of microcapsules (10) ruptured can be controlled by varying the pressure.</SDOA B> |
