abstract | A curved elongated supporting pillar for a high-strength structural component used in an aircraft and a method of manufacturing the supporting pillar. The supporting pillar is designed to absorb bending forces that act transversely to a longitudinal direction of extension of the supporting pillar. The supporting pillar comprises a wall which at least partially encloses an elongated cavity of the supporting pillar and which forms a tubular structure. The supporting pillar further comprises a disc-shaped reinforcement structure which is arranged within the cavity and transversely to the direction of the longitudinal extension in order to improve flexural rigidity. The reinforcement structure is formed integrally with the wall, wherein both the wall and the reinforcement structure are formed with a plastic or metallic material. The design of the supporting pillar provides an enhanced buckling resistance. |
