Coated abrasive article comprising a blend of abrasive particles |
abstract |
The present invention relates generally to coated abrasive articles that include a blend of abrasive particles, an increased tear resistance, or combinations thereof, as well as methods of making and using said coated abrasive articles. A coated abrasive article comprising: a backing material is provided. An abrasive layer disposed on the backing material, wherein the abrasive layer comprises a blend of abrasive particles. A first plurality of abrasive particles and a second plurality of abrasive particles form the abrasive layer. The first plurality of abrasive particles comprise exploded ceramic abrasive particles and the second plurality of abrasive particles comprise crushed fusion abrasive particles. The backing material comprises a fibrous mixture of a plurality of cellulosic fibers and a plurality of synthetic fibers, and wherein the backing material comprises a tear strength in the cross direction that is at least equal to the tear strength in the machine direction. |
