abstract	The machine is particularly for forming cores from lengths parted off a strip of paper dispensed from a roll so as to accommodate coils of copper wire. A guide and indexing mechanism (3) feeds the strip forward in preset lengths for parting off by a cutting mechanism (16, 19) inside the guide. The parted-off length is then indexed forward by a further mechanism between two cylinders (21, 22), one of which rotates continuously rolling it into a closed loop. The guide can be in the form of two blocks forming a slot between them in which the sliding strip fits closely. The indexing mechanism can comprise two rollers, one driven intermittently, the strip being gripped between them.
