NH2; R2 = H or 1-7C alkyl, R3 = H, 1-7C alkyl, CO2H or CO2 (1-7C alkyl), R4 = H or 1-7C alkyl; R5 = 1-7C alkyl opt. substd. by CO2H or a CO2H deriv. or 7-12C alkylaryl opt. substd. in the aryl gps. by 1-7C alkyl, 1-7C alkoxy, hal or CF3; and R6 = H, hal CF3, 1-7C alkyl, 2-7C alkenyl, 1-7C alkoxy, 2-7C alkenyloxy, NO2, CH2O (1-7C alkyl), carbamoyl, N-(1-7C alkyl), carbamoyl, CN, or l. alkinyl-oxy; and salts of (I). (I) are prepd. by standard methods e.g. reaction of ArOCH2CHX'CH2Z' with Z2R5 and a base, where X' = OH and Z' = NH2 and Z2 a labile ester on vice versa, or X' + Z' = epoxy and Z2 = NH2.
