abstract | A system (36) for optically monitoring a gas turbine engine includes a viewing window (40) in a member (16) of the gas turbine engine and an optical connector (38) having a first axial end (90) and a second axial end (92). The first axial end (90) is optically coupled to the viewing window (40) and adapted to receive the image from the viewing window (40), the optical connector (38) includes a substrate (108) having a plurality of hollow channels (110) each extending from the first axial end (90) to the second axial end (92), and each hollow channel (110) includes a reflective coating (112) disposed on an inner surface of the hollow channel (110) for transmitting a corresponding one of the first and second axial ends To allow part of the image from the first axial end (90) to the second axial end (92). In addition, the system (36) includes a detector assembly (42) in optical communication with the second axial end (92) of the optical connector (38). The detector array (42) includes a plurality of detection elements (114) arranged to obtain a plurality of corresponding parts of the image from the hollow channels (110). |
