The present invention provides a method for producing a thermoplastic resin which has fluorene frame and high strength. The method uses the following compositions: a dihydroxyl compound which is represented by a formula (1) and contains fluorene, and a hydroxyl compound which is represented by a formula (2) and contains fluorene, wherein, relatively to 100 parts by weight of dihydroxyl compound which is represented by the formula (1) and contains fluorene, the ratio of the hydroxyl compound which is represented by the formula (2) and contains fluorene is 0.5-1.5 parts by weight. In the formula (1), R1 and R2 are independent from each other and represent hydrogen atom or methyl, X1 and X2 are independent from each other and represent C2-C4 alkylidene group. In the formula (2), R11, R12 and R13 are independent from one another and represent hydrogen atom or methyl, X11 and X12 are independent from each other and represent C2-C4 alkylidene group. |
