abstract The invention discloses a slow-wave system for a Ka-band travelling wave tube and a manufacturing method for the slow-wave system. The slow-wave system consists of two sections of slow-wave structures. Each section of slow-wave structure consists of a tube shell, a spiral line and three clamping rods, wherein the periphery of the spiral line is fixed by the three clamping rods evenly distributed at an angle of 120 degrees; the tube shell is arranged at the peripheries of the clamping rods; the spiral line and the clamping rods are fixed in the tube shell by utilizing the elastic deformation of the tube shell; and an absorber is plated at the front end of each clamping rod. According to the slow-wave system with the special structure for the Ka-band travelling wave tube, the spiral lines have three sections of main pitches, and the spiral lines and the clamping rods are respectively fixed in the tube shells by adopting the hop technology by utilizing a hot compression method to assemble the slow-wave system. Compared with a conventional slow-wave system, the electronic efficiency can be increased by 150 percent by the slow-wave system for the Ka-band travelling wave tube. When working voltage is 6.6kY and working current is 60mA, all-band power can be greater than 43W, the minimum electronic efficiency is 11 percent, and the gain reaches 35dB.
