A filter for aluminum melts is provided through which an agent for crystal-grain size reduction, such as TiB2, can pass in an adequate amount and which can remove other inclusions. The filter for aluminum melts is obtained by bonding 100 parts by weight of aggregate particles comprising alumina with 5-20 parts by weight of an inorganic binder, and is characterized in that the binder comprises 7-15 wt.% SiO2, 40-60 wt.% B2O3, and 5-30 wt.% Al2O3 and that the filter contains 0.01-0.5 wt.% Na2O, 0.01-0.5 wt.% K2O, and 0.1-0.5 wt.% CaO. |
