abstract |
The present disclosure provides methods of forming a hermetic enclosure comprising diamond material. The method includes providing first and second housing components comprising diamond material and having first and second recesses, respectively, in edge portions. At least one of the first and second housing components has a cavity. The housing parts have respective contact surfaces at the first and second recesses and are shaped such that when the first and second housing parts come into contact at the contact surfaces to form the housing, the outer passage is formed by cooperation of the first and second recesses . The method also includes bonding the first type of material to at least surface portions of the first and second recesses of the first and second housing components, respectively. The method also includes bonding the second type of material to the first type of material such that the second type of material covers at least portions of the first type of material. The second type of material is biocompatible and suitable for forming a hermetic seal. Additionally, the method includes contacting the housing components to form the housing, and bonding the second type of material of the first housing component to the second type of material of the second housing component to form a hermetic seal in the external passageway. |
