abstract |
The present invention relates to a genetic determinant comprising at least two copies of a combination of two closely linked RDR1 genes, wherein the two closely linked RDR1 genes are oriented in reverse, and which when present in a plant results in a virus resistance. In one embodiment, one of the RDR1 genes in the combination is represented by or has at least 70% sequence identity with SEQ ID No. 1, and the other RDR1 gene in the combination is represented by or has at least 70% sequence identity with SEQ ID No. 3 70% sequence identity; or one of the RDR1 genes in the combination encodes a protein represented by SEQ ID No. 2 or a protein having at least 70% sequence identity thereto, and the other RDR1 gene encodes a protein represented by SEQ ID No. 4 A protein or a protein having at least 70% sequence identity thereto. |
