titleOfInvention Ionization method and apparatus
abstract Devices and systems are provided for methods of controlling breathable gas generation (e.g., for respiratory therapy) and/or controlling gas ionization. In one embodiment, the generation of the supply of ionized air is controlled by a controller of the respiratory therapy apparatus. The apparatus may include a flow generator to generate a flow of breathable gas at above atmospheric pressure. The flow generator may be adapted to interface with a patient respiratory interface. The apparatus may further comprise an ionizer for ionizing the gas flow. The controller may be coupled to the ionizer and the airflow generator and configured to control the ionizer to programmatically vary an ionization level of the pressurized flow of breathable gas. The ionized gas therapy may be suitable for helping a user fall asleep, or to increase respiratory oxygen uptake, and may be used, for example, in patients with sleep disordered breathing or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
