Spinneret packs for spinning polymer fibers |
abstract |
A spinneret pack for spinning polymeric fibers, the spinneret pack comprising: (a) a cap equipped with an inlet and a flared lower surface extending from the inlet to the (b) a spinneret having a plurality of spinning flow channels through its thickness; (c) a filter freely disposed on the spinneret; and (d) having a tapered A geometrically shaped flow guide mounted within the cavity defined by the cap and the spinneret. The deflector has an apex facing the inlet, a bottom facing the filter, and one or more side surfaces that taper up to the apex. A split flow passage is defined by the one or more tapered side surfaces of the flow guide and the flared lower surface of the cap. The bottom of the flow guide is spaced from the upper surface of the spinneret creating a space in fluid communication with the split flow passage. |
