abstract |
A method for enhancing bleaching efficacy for treating articles of clothing is disclosed. Provided are methods for antimicrobial sterilization and/or disinfection and bleaching of clothing and other articles by washing the articles with a peroxyformic acid composition at a pH of 4 to 7 to achieve effective antimicrobial Efficacy, after which an alkaline source is applied to increase the pH to at least about 7 to add the chlorine bleach component. The method can be provided as part of a laundry operation and can be utilized in industrial and commercial applications. |
