Honeycombs, honeycomb structures and extrusion dies containing transitional structural components. The honeycomb structure (100) includes a plurality of interconnected plates (106) that define a plurality of cell channels (108) in a honeycomb matrix (109) having a central axis ( 110). Radial plates (116) diverge outward from the central axis (110). The radial plates (116) include a first radial plate (150) and a second radial plate (152). The tangential plates (120) are arranged concentric with respect to the central axis (110), wherein at least one of the tangential plates (120) is a tangential transition plate (142). At least one transition structural component (140) is positioned radially inwardly from the tangential transition plate (124) and includes a first inclined plate (144) and a second inclined plate (146) having a connection To the first end (144A) of the first radial plate (150), the second inclined plate (146) has a first end (146A) connected to the second radial plate (152). As in other aspects, an extrusion die configured for making a honeycomb structure is provided. |
