abstract |
Methods and apparatus for processing styrene-acrylonitrile melts are disclosed. In the method for processing the styrene-acrylonitrile melt (2), an entrainer (42) is fed and mixed with the styrene-acrylonitrile melt (2) by means of a screw machine (4). In addition, rubber (3) is fed into the styrene-acrylonitrile melt (2) and mixed with it. The resulting mixture is degassed before and/or after feeding the rubber (3). The entrainer ( 42 ) fed in cools the styrene-acrylonitrile melt ( 2 ) or the mixture prepared therefrom and improves the removal of undesired volatile components. The mechanical, chemical and optical properties of the mixture formed from the styrene-acrylonitrile melt (2) and the rubber (3) are thereby improved. |
