abstract | The present invention provides an improved method for the quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of target molecules using nitrocellulose membranes (NCM). In particular, the present invention provides a porous nitrocellulose membrane comprising a surface and organic nanostructured molecules non-covalently attached to the NCM surface. The organic nanostructured molecule has a branched region that includes a plurality of terminal region (eg, terminal) moieties that are non-covalently attached or bound to the porous NCM surface. The organic nanostructured molecule also includes a linear region that includes a covalently attached capture molecule adapted to selectively bind a target molecule. The NCMs of the present invention provide improved reproducibility, reliability and selectivity compared to NCMs that do not contain organic nanostructured molecules. |
