[Technical Problem] To provide a sliding member in which the sliding layer and the backing metal layer are firmly joined more than ever before. [Solution] The sliding member includes a backing metal layer and a sliding layer made of a copper alloy provided on a joint surface of the backing metal layer. The composition of the copper alloy contains 0.5 to 12 mass % of Sn, 0.5 to 15 mass % of Ni, and 0.06 to 0.2 mass % of P, and the balance consists of Cu and inevitable impurities. The backing metal layer is composed of hypoeutectoid steel containing 0.07 to 0.35 mass % of carbon, and has a structure composed of a ferrite phase and pearlite. The lining metal layer has a hole-containing region extending inward from the joint surface. In the cross-sectional view of the sliding layer perpendicular to the sliding surface, there are a plurality of closed holes in the hole-containing region that are not open to the joint surface. The closed holes The average diameter is 5 to 15 μm, and the thickness of the void-containing region is 10 to 60 μm. The ratio V2/V1=0.05 to 0.1 of the total volume V2 of closed pores to the volume V1 of the pore-containing region. |
