The present invention relates to a process for the functionalization of rubber polymers, the process comprising reacting a rubber polymer with at least one source of nitrogen or at least one source of carbene in the presence of a catalyst of formula Tp x Ag, wherein Tp x Represents a hydrogen tris(pyrazolyl)borate ligand. This method results in selective rubber functionalization without secondary reactions such as chain scission or crosslinking, and results in functionalized rubbers with improved compatibilization properties. The present invention also relates to polymers produced from said functionalized rubbers, and to the use of said polymers. |
