A pharmaceutical composition suitable for the treatment or protection of vertebrates against parasites comprising a physiologically acceptable carrier and [((3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl) phenyl) sulfonyl] [(4-fluorophenyl) sulfonyl] [(2,4- di-chlorophenyl) sulfonyl, [(phenyl) sulfonyl], [((4-trifluoromethoxy) phenyl) sulfonyl], [(3,4-dichlorophenyl) sulfonyl], [((4-trifluoromethyl) phenyl) sulfonyl], [(2,4,5-trichlorophenyl) sulfonyl], [(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl) sulfonyl], [(4-chlorophenyl) sulfonyl], [(3-trifluoromethyl) phenyl) sulfonyl], [(pentachlorophenyl) sulfonyl], [(4-nitro-phenyl) sulfonyl] or [(3-nitro-4-chlorophenyl) sulfonyl] derivative of [(trifluoromethyl) sulfonyl] methane or physiologically a suitable, especially levamisole, salt of any of these derivatives.
